From Monday to Tuesday, 22,830 new infections were registered in Austria. This is below the past seven-day average of 34,000. Currently, 382,899 people in Austria are actively infected with the coronavirus.
The seven-day incidence is 2,673.80. In the past 24 hours, 362,268 new PCR tests were performed. This results in a positive rate of 6.30 percent.
There are also 58 new deaths associated with Covid-19 infection to report. To date, the Coronavirus has claimed 15,764 lives in Austria.
Currently, 3,333 people are being treated in hospitals—74 more than on Monday. In intensive care units, 238 patients are treated—three fewer than the previous day.
Vaccinations
On Monday, 2,819 Corona vaccinations were administered across Austria, compared to only 23,185 in the entire week. According to the E vaccination passport data, 6,814,128 people have already received at least one vaccination. Exactly 6,208,775 people, or 69.1 percent of Austrians, have valid vaccination protection.
The protection rate (valid vaccination certificate) is highest in Burgenland with 75.3 percent. In Lower Austria, 71.3 percent of the population have valid vaccination protection, and in Styria, 69.9 percent. After Vienna (68.3), Tyrol (67.1), Carinthia (66.1), Salzburg (65.3), and Vorarlberg (65.1), Upper Austria brings up the rear with 64.7 percent.
